I'm a professional musician and percussion instructor in Las Vegas, NV.
Originally from the small farm town of Pontiac, Illinois, Kirk Rustman took up the drums in 5th grade. By the time high school came around he had made the decision to become a professional musician (bold decision for a 14 year old, LOL).
After winning many awards for his playing through high school it was onto college in search of a Music Performance degree. He was brought to Eastern Illinois University by his professor Johnny Lee Lane (currently Director of Educational Marketing for Remo Inc.). After receiving his BFA he decided to continue his education at Northern Illinois University where he received his MM in music performance. His instructors there were Rich Holly and Robert Chappell.
From college Kirk stayed in the Chicago area playing music and working for American Music as a road rep to surrounding schools for 7 years.
In 2002, he made a big change (for the better) and moved to Las Vegas. Since arriving there he has built a career out of playing and teaching music. He was part of the pit for the Broadway musical Mamma Mia (getting to play both percussion and drumset) for 5 years until it closed. Then he moved on to his current gig, subbing for the hit Vegas! The Show.
His teaching duties include 23 private percussion students and being Director of Percussion at Faith Lutheran Middle School/High School and percussion clinician at The Meadows School.
