Golden Ticket Interviews: Chicago

Chicago Monday, June 22nd
Chicago - United Center
Founded in 1833, Chicago is now the third-most populous city in the United States. Last year, Chicago was named "City of the Year" by GQ for contributions in architecture and literature, and its world of politics. In addition, Chicago was home to President Barack Obama before he moved to the White House. Chicago is one of four candidate cities for hosting the 2016 Summer Olympics. Good luck, Chi-Town!

Chicago Contestant Gets Golden Ticket Revoked

Last night we watched a mere 13 contestants make it through to Hollywood from the Chicago auditions, but we may need to adjust that number as it is now only 12.

The Chicago Sun Times reports that Keith Semple, who won the British show Pop Stars and appeared in quite a bit of Idol's promos, received a golden ticket during his audition, but later had it revoked. It seems that Semple, a native of Northern Ireland, ran into some snafus with his resident alien visa. Idol's executives chose to cut Semple from the competition early on as opposed to facing a situation where the singer would be unable to compete in later rounds.

''Yes, it was a huge disappointment,'' Semple told the Sun-Times Tuesday. ''But that's just the way it is... I'm happy I'm with a great band, and I'm only looking forward.''

You can catch Semple's band, 7th Heaven, playing venues and festivals in Chicago and throughout the Midwest pretty much any day as they average about 250 shows a year.
